Beech Tree Class - Y1/2 2016-17 ARCHIVED

Beech Tree Summer Newsletter

Welcome to Beech Tree Class!

Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful Easter, full of chocolate smiles and bunnies, and are ready for the excitement of summer term. Get your cup of cocoa and reading blanket ready, as we step on inside Tradition Tales! We need to discover if our woodland area will be suitable for Red Riding Hood to visit, as well as exploring what trees, plants and birds live there already that we hope she doesn’t disturb! One big job will be to work as a team to construct Little Red a shelter – will you be able to make it waterproof and windproof for her? If not I’m sure she will be visiting your homes, eating your porridge and sleeping in your beds! Oh wait…that is Goldilocks! In Science we better start learning about plants so that we can add some lovely flowers to her basket for visiting Grandma. She likes plants. She will need entertaining too – why don’t we make some hand puppets so that we can put on a puppet show – maybe retell some traditional tales – yes that is a cracking idea.

  1. If you have any gardening gloves at home (labelled with your name) they would be very useful.
  2. If you have any books on traditional tales or books about plants and trees to share we would be very grateful.
  3. If you have any old materials that can be cut up for creating hand puppets then bring them in (always ask an adult first!).
  4. If you see Red Riding Hood make sure she doesn’t have a beard and sharp teeth….
