Welcome to our class page!

Please check our page for regular updates to find out what we have been learning in Year 4.

Making Slime! 12.6.18 - The class learnt about polymers and had a chance to create their own slime!

11.6.18 - In English we are going to be designing our own chocolate bars and sweets. Before we do this we have been learning how to create wacky descriptions of textures and tastes. Children got a chance to do some taste testing to make this easier!

8.6.18 - We learnt about managing money in PSHE and children played a board game that challenged them to consider about spending or saving money.

18.5.18 - Roman Formations - (Testudo) is the Latin word for "tortoise".

18.5.18 - Performing our Roman discovery drama! A little over a month ago, the story about Roman skeletons getting discovered underneath a hotel in York inspired us to put together some drama. We wrote our own scripts in groups, practiced, performed and then rated each others performances.

16.5.18 - Art/DT - We have been making Roman Shields this week! Thank you to all parents for the cardboard donations! We will be using them to learn about Roman soldier battle formations!

15.5.18 We are investigating what effects liquids have on our teeth. As nobody in the class volunteered to have a hole drilled through their tooth had to use eggs and apples to investigate this! We put the eggs and apples in containers with pepsi, water and vinegar and will be monitoring them daily. The classroom now also smells like a chip shop!

14.5.18 Human Bar Charts!

1.5.18 - In the past few weeks, over 60 Roman skeletons have been found under an old hotel in York! (Google York Roman skeletons for more info!) we have decided to do our own news reports on this using drama and English skills! Roles include: the hotel owner, builders who discovered the skeletons and York Archaeological Trust members!

Welcome back to school to all parents and children! The summer term is here and this term our class topic is The Romans!

Multiplication Maths games with Year 5!

Using cubes to make factor pairs!

Recently, Year 4 had the chance to visit the Castle Museum to explore our topic of the First World War. Children had chance to go inside a replica trench and learn more about the conditions soldiers lived in during the war. We also found out about what life was like at home for the women and children of Britain. Everybody really enjoyed this trip and we want to say a big thank you to all the parents who helped make it possible! One of the highlights was when the children decided to sing Christmas Carols under the tree, to members of the public in the Victorian street!

Our new topic is the First World War. This week we have created our own poppy pictures for remembrance day and created our own guide to the trenches!
