KS1

Year 2 are in the throws of their topic Animals including Humans. We are learning all about animals and their offspring as well as the human life cycle 👶🏼👧🏼👩🏼

The egg is hatching!

Spring 2 Introducing the ‘Investigation Station!’ KS1 now have a new fun way to explore and learn their scientific skills! The focus will change every few weeks, dependent on the topic of exploration. This week an egg and nest has arrived! The children have been challenged to make a prediction of what might be in the egg. Linking to our work on time they have also been asked to predict when the egg might hatch. Who do you think this egg might belong to?

Year 2 Spring 1. We have been looking at living things and habitats.

EYFS - Exploring Ice ❄️
As part our recent work on winter children in reception enjoyed exploring ice. We used magnifying glasses to look closely at ice cubes and used words to describe how they looked and felt. We then used warm water and salt to explore and investigate the melting process.

Year 2 - Making mops for Traction Man to help keep our classrooms tidy. We investigated which would be the most absorbent and durable material to make a recycled mop. Fleeces soaked up the most liquid and the felt soaked up the least. Tissue paper was the least durable!!

Year 1 Animal Poo, can you guess which is herbivore, omnivore or carnivore?

Year 1 have had a fabulous time in science this week using our classifying and observing skills.
We used our animal diet knowledge after finding lots of research ( just like Professor Bookworm) from previous lessons to investigate different animal poos. We then classified and sorted the poo into groups of herbivore, omnivore and carnivore. Year 1 were so hooked by this task that they wanted a go at making their own. So we scavenged the woodland for items we would find in each poo and chose an animal to create a poo for. Fabulous scientific skills!

Scavenging for items and making our poos!
