10.11.21 - Using the chromebooks to research Nikola Tesla. We then used this extra information, combined with what we have learned from reading the book, to create information booklets all about his life ⚑️

10.11.21 - In Maths we have been continuing our work on measurement and have been working out the perimeter of different shapes πŸ“βž•βœοΈ

9.11.21 - In Science we have been working in groups to problem-solve and create a working circuit to light a bulb! πŸ’‘ We also learned about different components of circuits and what their functions are.

5.11.21 - Computing πŸ’» This afternoon we have sent true and false messages around the classroom to demonstrate how easily information can be passed on and how difficult it can be to keep track of what we share online. I was super impressed to see so many children with a sensible attitude towards online safety πŸ‘

4.11.21 - In Active Maths, we have been combining our RE learning about Hinduism and our learning on length and perimeter to create some beautiful Rangoli patterns to celebrate Diwali!

3.11.21 - In Art we have been studying M.C.Escher and his work on optical illusions, then we tried to recreate our own tessellations. Keep your eyes peeled for more optical illusions in Year 4 soon πŸ‘€

3.11.21 - In English this week we have started our new book β€˜Electrical Wizard’ which is all about Nikola Tesla. We’ve been working on selecting the most important parts of the text and using our summarising skills. πŸ‘

2.11.21 - We have made a brilliant start to our new Science topic: Electricity! ⚑️ This afternoon, we have learned about and sorted mains and battery powered appliances.

2.11.21 - We’ve made a fantastic start to our new length and measurement unit in maths. This morning we have been converting between measuring in centimetres and millimetres πŸ“

22.10.21 - Here they are... the finished rainforests! We have worked hard to follow our original plans and some of us have even labelled the different layers of the rainforest. Super work Year 4 πŸ‘

21.10.21 - In RE we discussed more about Christianity and matched up sentences to explain Christian beliefs.

21.10.21 - Lots of fun in Forest School with Mrs Peters this afternoon! Year 4 have completed a range of different activities in the woodland and identified lots of different leaves πŸŒΏπŸŒ³πŸ‚πŸπŸŒ±

20.10.21 - Work in progress!! Our rainforests are coming along nicely and we’re very excited to share the final products soon πŸ˜„

20.10.21 - In English we have made β€˜Unless’ posters to summarise the message of The Lorax story.

19.10.21 - In DT we have been designing and planning our β€˜biomes in a box’ 🌳🌿🦜 Keep your eyes peeled for the finished rainforests in Year 4 soon! πŸ‘€

18.10.21 - Mamma Mia! This week we finished our Mamma Mia music topic. We practised singing the song as a class, then we introduced some different instruments to accompany our singing. Check out the videos below! 🎼🎹🎀

15.10.21 - We’ve finished our unit of learning on The Lorax with some persuasive letters from the Lorax to the Once-ler. I am SO impressed with the fantastic effort and focus everyone has shown when writing these letters. Please come and take a look at the full letters in our class book in Year 4! πŸ“š

15.10.21 - Year 4’s Brain Break Squat Challenge! πŸ‹οΈ Try the challenge at home and see if you can beat your score for next week! πŸ’ͺ🏻🧠

14.10.21 - Forest School! 🌳🌿🌲 Working as a team to create woodland versions of some traditional games. Can you guess which games we played?

13.10.21 - More Rainforest-inspired Art! This week we have studied Henri Rousseau and we have used his artwork as inspiration for our own Rainforest pieces. We have carefully mixed paints to create different shades of green for different leaves and plants. Can you spot any hidden animals?

12.10.21 - Exploring how effective different materials are at absorbing sound. We made ear defenders in groups and tested them outside. Our results showed that bubble wrap was the most effective! We then wrote up our scientific investigation with the help of Reggie the Referee, to make sure that our tests were fair.

11.10.21 - More Jigsaw fun this afternoon! We managed to improve our time in our connect me activity by working together as a class team, then we looked at children’s rights and decided how we can all help to respect our rights.

11.10.21 - Practising our tackling and defending skills in hockey with Ben this morning.

11.10.21 - Working hard on our column addition using cards to create our own calculations with 4-digit numbers. You could even try this at home!

8.10.21 - In Geography, we have made a start on producing double-page spreads all about endangered species in the Rainforest. We have used our initiative to find information from resources around the classroom and then carefully considered the best way to present it. We have loved learning about so many different species! πŸ’πŸ¦§πŸ…πŸ¦πŸ¦œπŸ¦¦

7.19.21 - In RE we have been looking at the Grace prayer and we have made some holding crosses which reflected the themes of the prayer. They look fantastic on our display in the classroom too!

6.10.21 - This week we have started planning our persuasive letters to the Once-ler. We have been practising our drama skills by testing out our best persuasive phrases on each other too! 🎭

6.10.21 - We’ve been busy in Maths this morning completing addition and subtraction problems around the classroom. Super concentration and focus from everyone! ⭐️

24.9.21 - After a busy week working on our persuasive adverts for Thneeds, we have now edited, finalised and presented our fantastic posters!

22.9.21 - As part of our Rainforests topic, we took our Geography lesson outside and looked at the features of a woodland biome and compared them with features of a rainforest 🌳🌿🌴

21.9.21 - This afternoon in Science we have made pan pipes using straws of different lengths to investigate changing the pitch of sound. Afterwards, we wrote up our investigations and practised neat presentation πŸ‘πŸ‘‚πŸ»βœοΈ

14.9.21 - In Science today we have been investigating how sound travels through vibrations in the air all the way to our ears. We conducted our investigation by banging drums and observing how the rice moved - just like sound vibrations! As Louis said β€œIt went everywhere!” πŸ’₯

10.9.21 - What a fantastic first week! The children have made an excellent start with their topics for this half term. Today in Maths we have started exploring place value by creating human number lines, and in English we have loved reading and re-telling the story of The Lorax. Well done Year 4! πŸ“šπŸ‘

9.9.21 - This afternoon we’ve been exploring place value outside in Active Maths with Mrs Peters. Throwing the beanbag to get the highest place value score took some serious concentration! 🎯
