24.5.21 - Which surface produces the most bacteria? - We wanted to investigate the importance of washing our hands so are conducting an experiment to see how quickly germs spread. We are leaving two slices of bread in the same location but one that has not touched any surface and another that has. We used the carpet, the goalposts outside, the toilet seat and even our own feet to test how much bacteria will spread! Which surface do you think will produce the most mould on the bread?!

Random acts of kindness advent calendar!

Our class book is 'The Boy at the Back of the Class' by Onjali Q Rauf. This is the story about how one ordinary nine-year-old child and three classmates are full of empathy for Ahmet, a boy that comes to their school as a refugee from Syria. It has been an excellent read and we have learnt a lot from this book!

English, Maths and Science displays in Year 5 and 6

We wrote our own playscripts for a scene from our class book and then performed the drama in groups. The children were amazing at this and have really enjoyed it!

Half term homework project: Building a Favela!

You have just arrived in Rocinha (Rio de Janeiro) from the countryside hoping to start a better life. With no money or job you have nowhere to live, so you have to find shelter in the favelas. You find a plot of land and over the coming weeks begin to build your home out of anything you can! Use the powerpoint below to see examples of designs!

Our new topic is all about Brazil!

We learnt about 'Favela' communities in Brazil! We wrote a diary from the favela and also did some artwork based on them!

Children have enjoyed building structures in their science work!

We created our own artwork based on the Brazilian flag!

Our new class book is 'Kick' by Mitch Johnson.... 'Budi's plan is simple. He's going to be a star.
