Reception have been enjoying their weekly visits to woodland. In recent weeks the children have been keen to look for signs of wildlife that live in woodland. They spotted a hedgehog one week, have heard many birds and have been using their observation skills to find mini-beasts!
Reception have been busy planting different vegetables as part of our 'Mr McGregor's Garden' topic. The children have been observing and discussing the growth of the seeds and helping to water them regularly.
Bears in the Night
After lots of discussion around our book 'Bears in the Night' Reception have been working hard using lots of prepositional language 'movement words'. We decided to bring our own Teddy Bears in and take them on a walk around school trying to use as much prepositional language as we could. Below are some pictures showing some of the things our bear's got up to.
- Through the Hall
- Down the corridor
- To the door
- Up the steps
- Over the bench
- Between the Fun Trail
- Under the Flip Bars
- In the Pavilion
- Back to the classroom
This week we have been working really hard to recognise and write our names. We have been strengthening our 'pinchy fingers' so that we can hold a pencil carefully to form the letters in our name.
Welcome to Reception, we have had an excellent start to the school year.
A massive well done to our new starters who have fitted perfectly into school life!
